PITCH AND FLOW
CLIENT LOWES INNOVATION LABS AND THE U.S STATE DEPARTMENT
Create a new way to have entrepreneurs, especially African entrepreneurs engaged in social impact entrepreneurship, pitch their visions in a unique and impactful way thereby engaging a wider audience to invest in and support their long term goals.
We created a new live format called Pitch and Flow in which 8 social impact entrepreneurs were paired with 8 hip hop emcees who tell the vision of the entrepreneurs to a live studio audience in a competition style battle. The winning team received a financial prize to help further each participants goals. Contestants were flown in from as far away as Kenya to compete. We secured the Kennedy Centerfor the Performing Arts as the venue. Engaged hip hop icons, MC Lyteto host, DjD Nice to Djand Doug E. Fresh the Human Beat Box to perform. We curated a panel of judges including legendary DJ Stretch Armstrong from the Originals, Young Paris (hip hop artist from Cameroon) and Melissa Bradley, a professor of social impact entrepreneurship at George Washington University.
The event was produced in front of a packed house at The Kennedy Centerto rave reviews and standing ovations. It was promoted heavily over social media and retweeted by many celebrities including 50 Cent. The event garnered national press, rave reviews and raised awareness of the efforts of the social impact entrepreneurs to a much broader global audience.
