BRENDAH WAIRIMU

Born in Eldoret, Kenya to the late Joseph Ngatho and Janet Njeri, Brendah Wairimu grew up in Mombasa. She pursued a degree in International Business Administration with a minor in Media at the United States International University-Africa in Kenya.

Brendah gained recognition portraying Dala on MTV’s “Shuga” and went on to play the lead role of Lulu in East Africa’s first soap opera, “Mali”. Other notable roles include Shareefa in “Changing Times”, Pamela in KONA (M-Net), and the lead in “Monica” (Showmax). She also played Rosette in “Selina” and starred in the Kenyan theater production of “Sarafina”. Brendah starred in and executive produced “Disconnect: The Wedding Planner” (Netflix) and played the lead in “Subira” (Netflix). She co-produced “18 Hours” (2017), which won Best Movie at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. 

Brendah has received multiple Best Actor awards, including at the Women in Film Awards, Lake International Film Festival, Kalasha Awards, and Sotigui Awards. She produced and hosted the parenting show Mommy 101 and is the host of Let’s Talk. Through her #TheatreThursdayKE series on Instagram, she encourages actors to share monologues for industry visibility. She has been involved in philanthropic efforts like Computers for Growth, and founded Cool 4 Skool, which provides reusable sanitary pads to schoolgirls. Currently, she serves on the board of Tabitha’s Daughters International, a Canadian organization providing sanitary products to girls.

Brendah currently stars in Kenya’s leading telenovela “Zari” on Maisha Magic Plus, where she plays the leading role of Lola. In 2024, Prime Video’s “In Bloom”, a short film anthology centered on gender equity, had its international release. Brendah Wairimu stars in “Kifungo”, a psychological horror film in both Swahili and English, written and directed by Kenya’s Voline Ogutu. The film follows an ambitious romantic as she grapples with self-acceptance after discovering she is HIV-positive.
