Hailing from Boksburg, Benoni, South African singer-songwriter Xowié was deeply influenced by her upbringing. Surrounded by a family of singers, she was exposed to a diverse range of sounds, from R&B, to pop and reggae—all of which ignited her passion for music. As a former Idols SA contestant, Xowié’s time in the competition motivated her to hone her songwriting skills.

Inspired by legendary artists like Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, and Lauryn Hill, as well as contemporary talents such as SZA, Victoria Monét, and Raye, Xowié’s music explores themes of confidence, body positivity, and love. Drawing from the influence of her deeply religious grandmother and mother, she aims to empower Black women, especially those from townships and villages, to dream beyond their circumstances.

Her 2023 single, “Rainy Days,” garnered widespread acclaim, solidifying her as a rising force in R&B Soul and led to her signing with Exodus.
