Sarah Hassan is a multi-award-winning Kenyan actress, producer, and TV host. Her breakthrough came with the role of Tanya in Citizen TV’s “Tahidi High,” and she won the Best Actress award at the Chaguo La Teeniez Awards Awards (CHAT) in 2010 and 2011. Other accolades include Best Actress in 2014 for “Now That You’re Here,” Best TV Host at the Kalasha Awards in 2014 for “Discovery+ 254,” and the title of Best East African Journalist in 2015 at the Swahili Fashion Week in Dar es Salaam for her work on “Mashariki Mix” and “Maisha Max.”

She continued her success by winning the Best Actress award at the Kalasha Awards in 2019 for her role in “Plan B” and securing the Best Film title at the AMVCA Awards in Nigeria in 2019 for the same film. Additionally, her production company, Alfajiri Productions, produced the acclaimed short film “The Company You Keep”, which she wrote, co-directed, and acted in; the film later received four Best Actress and Best Short Film awards. The company also produced “Reflections” and the family comedy-drama “Just In Time,” which streamed globally on Netflix.

Sarah is the lead producer for the Kenyan Thriller “40 Sticks,” available on Netflix, which earned eight awards at the 2020 Kalasha Awards, including Best Film. In 2020, she took on lead roles in the first Kenyan Showmax original, “Crime and Justice,” a co-production between Showmax and Canal+, and the Citizen TV telenovela “Zora.” 

Sarah Hassan produced and acted in “Family Vacation”, which was released in August 2024 and trended at number 5 on Netflix. The film was co-directed by Voline Ogutu and Edwin Kamau.
